``Common places``

beca artística “in&at” (donostia2016)

This project is the result of a European artistic residency financed by the European capital cities, in my case Donostia2016. My project ‘Common Places’ arises from the need to create social awareness due to the growing influx of refugees due to the great humanitarian crisis we are experiencing. I propose a comparison between the situation of Basque refugees in 1937 who were evacuated to the United Kingdom before the bombing of Guernika and the current situation of refugee children in the United Kingdom through the story of a group of unaccompanied minors and their social worker who also went through the same experience as a minor. This photographic experience, for many, had a therapeutic value.

The memory of our exodus in the past should awaken our historical memory to understand, accept and overcome the negative stereotypes of rejection and those erroneous beliefs we have about the reality of all refugees or displaced persons. There will be no justice without duty and conscience. I hope to contribute to this with my work.
